MOULTON, Ala. – A Moulton man received a lengthy prison sentence for child sexual exploitation crimes, U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona announced.

David Edward Collier, II, 47, was sentenced to 3,600 months – a total of 300 years – in federal prison by U.S. District Court Judge Liles C. Burke.

Collier pleaded guilty to 13 charges, including four counts of sexual exploitation of children, eight counts of transportation of child pornography, and one count of possession of child pornography.

According to court documents, Collier corresponded with individuals online regarding his desires to expose and sexually exploit children.

Collier produced and distributed child pornography from January 2017 to August 2022. He also shared the material through online platforms between October 2022 and September 2023.

“My office and our federal, state, and local law enforcement partners are committed to protecting children from the devastating and lifelong impacts caused by defendants like David Collier,” Escalona said.

“This tremendous sentencing demonstrates the steadfast commitment of the FBI and our partners to investigate cases involving violent crimes against children,” said David R. Fitzgibbons, Special Agent in Charge, Birmingham Division.

The FBI North Alabama Violent Crime Task Force, Cybercrime Squad, and local law enforcement agencies investigated the case. Assistant United States Attorneys R. Leann White and John M. Hundscheid prosecuted it.

The case was part of Project Safe Childhood, a Department of Justice initiative to combat child sexual exploitation. More information can be found at www.projectsafechildhood.gov.
