The Nebraska attorney general filed a lawsuit against Resideo Technologies Inc., accusing the company of deceiving customers and putting the privacy of Nebraskans at risk.According to a news release sent by the attorney general’s office, Resideo (also known as ADI Global Distribution) markets itself as a “trusted provider that helps keep communities ‘safe, secure, comfortable, and connected.'” However, Attorney General Mike Hilgers said the cameras are manufactured by Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology Co. Ltd. (“Hikvision”) and Zhejiang Dahua Technology Co. Ltd. (“Dahua”), which the U.S. government has repeatedly accused of posing national security and cybersecurity risks.Hilgers said ADI has failed to disclose security risks to customers and said people who bought them might not be aware of the risks they pose.The lawsuit seeks to stop Resideo and ADI from misleading customers and address the privacy and security risks the cameras allegedly pose.
