More lawyers are building their careers in cybersecurity law as cyber threats continue to increase and grow more sophisticated.
Recent data shows a growth in the demand for cybersecurity and privacy lawyers in the past few years, the JDJournal reports. More companies are hiring lawyers to handle and respond to data breaches, while law firms are expanding their cybersecurity and privacy practice groups.
“This growing demand has positioned cybersecurity law as one of the fastest-expanding legal career paths today,” according to the JDJournal, which cites legal recruitment company BCG Attorney Search’s new report, The 20 Practice Areas Growing the Fastest in 2026 (and What Firms Are Hiring in Them).
The JDJournal reports that a primary factor driving cybersecurity law job growth is the expansion of global data protection and cybersecurity regulations. It also notes that new positions, including data privacy officers, cybersecurity consultants and incident response advisers, are becoming available to lawyers interested in this area.
