LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court (LHC) has dismissed the bail petition of a man accused of uploading an objectionable photo of his sister-in-law on social media.
Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh announced the decision while hearing the plea filed by Zahid Hussain, who is facing charges under cybercrime laws.
The case was registered by the Cybercrime Wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in Faisalabad.
The petitioner denied all charges, claiming he was falsely implicated in a fabricated case. However, the assistant attorney general opposed the bail request, arguing that the accused had shared the objectionable picture online — an act described as a serious and morally reprehensible offence.
The prosecution informed the court that the investigation had been completed and a challan had already been submitted before the trial court. Witness statements were currently being recorded, the government lawyer said, requesting that bail be denied at this critical stage of trial proceedings.
After hearing arguments from both sides, the court dismissed Zahid’s bail petition.
