Madurai district police arrest four from U.P., Delhi in three cybercrime cases | #cybercrime | #infosec


Madurai district police have cracked three cybercrime cases by arresting four persons, including a woman, from Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.

A statement identified the accused as V. Ishu Sharma, 27, of Uttar Pradesh, D. Ajaib Singh, 57, Mamta Rani, 37, and her husband P. Pardeep, 27, from Delhi.

The police said that while pursuing a 2021 case, the police arrested Ishu Sharma.

He had cheated the complainant of ₹15.62 lakh on the pretext of getting customs clearance for imported and expensive gifts.

Ajaib Singh had duped of ₹51.59 lakh another complainant in the guise of a popular car manufacturer in 2021.

The couple had defrauded a person from Silaiman of ₹ 15 lakh in 2024 on promise of getting a job abroad.

The police have recovered some mobile phones, SIM cards, ATM cards and bank passbooks. These accused had taken commission from cybercriminals by lending their bank accounts to carry out the online frauds, the police said.

Madurai Superintendent of Police B.K. Arvind said that efforts were under way to recover the lost money
