A 38-year-old man was arrested and charged with grooming a 15-year-old online in Johnson County.

According to a release, on June 3, Steven Swenor was arrested in Greeneville, Tennessee, for an outstanding felony arrest warrant from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO).

Authorities began investigating the case in February, after JCSO received information that Swenor had been grooming a minor.

After gathering information and evidence, JCSO says that between November 2024 and December 2024, Swenor was communicating with a 15-year-old via Facebook Messenger. Swenor allegedly spoke sexually to the victim and attempted to meet them in person.

The Sheriff’s Office added that Swenor admitted he sent the messages, knowing that the victim was a juvenile. He was charged with one count of grooming a minor and is being held at the JCSO Danny Elbert Detention Center.

“We are committed to protecting our most vulnerable citizens and will strive to keep our children and our communities safe,” said Sheriff Greg Rowland in the release.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with any information on this case or similar cases is encouraged to contact Investigator Troy Fallin at the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office at 478-864-4003.
