Carefully dealing with cybersecurity threats is what the Metro auditors have been looking into lately. Details from the latest four-tier rating system suggests that the plans have not been laid out to a certain standing.
Brian Evans, the elected Metro Auditor, said what stage they’re in for improving plans to fight against break-ins.
“We found that the agency was at the initial level, which means that cybersecurity risk management and governance strategies were either undeveloped or managed in an ad hoc manner,” Evans said.
“We also recognized that there were projects underway to strengthen several of the functions and that more work was needed to get the governance function in place to make it easier for the agency to implement the other improvements,” Evans continued.
Evans also said that the audit is a preventive measure so that government agencies can protect their assets. He said what the rulings mean moving forward.
“Government and private sector businesses is all facing increased cybersecurity threats,” Evans said. “This audit is really a preventative measure to try and get attention and investments made so that (they) can protect public assets.
Evans also said that management has had discussions with the auditors and has accepted all the recommendations to move forward with improving cybersecurity measures.
