Hollywood actress Ariel Winter, who is better known for playing Alex Dunphy on the hit TV series Modern Family, has recently gone undercover to help a nonprofit, SOSA (Safe from Online Sex Abuse).

She disguised herself as a blonde 12-year-old girl to lure and catch a high-risk sexual predator. The 27-year-old actress teamed up with a non-profit organisation for the sting operation, which was documented in a true crime docuseries on YouTube called SOSA Undercover.

She pretended to be a 12-year-old to lure in a predator in an Oklahoma City sting operation.

In the episode, Ariel FaceTimed a 31-year-old individual accused of child predation, while staying in character in a child-like setting and using a child-like voice. She continued the interaction in the episode, ultimately leading to a confrontation with the authorities present.

However, the actress revealed that the undercover mission was actually driven by her own experiences.

In an interview with Daily Mail, Ariel shared her experience and said, “It’s definitely cathartic to be teaming with SOSA, knowing that I can make a difference. It can be scary at times pretending to be 12 and talking to older men, but it’s validating to put away predators that have been harming children.”

She drew a comparison between her own experience and the mission and noted, “Growing up in the entertainment industry, I’ve been the girl we are trying to save. It’s vital to me to help protect young women from the experiences I endured in my own life.”

She further revealed that finding a predator is now an easy task. She also admitted that she was left “surprised by the volume how many men were out there looking to talk to young girls who were 12 or 13. It’s hundreds of thousands of men.”

She also reflected on her own experience and noted that she received inappropriate messages from older men, leaving her traumatic.
