More Rewards is offering customers 24 months of credit monitoring and identity protection through TransUnion following a cybersecurity breach.
Earlier this year, the loyalty program by the Pattison Food Group (which owns Save-On-Foods, Buy-Low Foods, Nesters Market, and more) sent out an email to customers sharing that there had been a cyber incident.
“Our team discovered unauthorized activity occurring on one of our servers on October 13 and took immediate action that day to shut down the server and launch an investigation with a third-party cybersecurity expert. The incident was quickly contained, and we are in the process of notifying the appropriate authorities and privacy regulators,” wrote More Rewards.
The company then went on to share that the name, as well as the provided address, phone number, email addresses, and date of birth, were accessed in the More Rewards databases during this incident.
“Based on the information available to us, no other personal information (e.g., passwords, credit card data, or transaction history) was accessed, and your More Rewards account remains secure,” said More Rewards.
Now, the company is offering credit monitoring services to those who have been affected.
“As previously communicated, our investigation confirmed that your name, and, if provided, address, phone number, email address(es), and date of birth were accessed during this incident. There is no evidence that any other personal information (e.g. More Rewards ID, More Rewards passwords, credit card data, or transaction history) was accessed, and the More Rewards accounts themselves remain secure,” reads the email.
The company went on to add that it is offering credit monitoring and identity protection services “as an added measure of support and reassurance,” despite the information involved being limited.
More Rewards is also reminding customers that they will only send you emails from accounts ending in @mail-morerewards.ca and @morerewards.ca, and that they will not contact you for sensitive information like your password, verification codes, banking or payment card information, social insurance numbers, or any answer to security questions.
