Morocco was elected on Thursday to the position of vice chair of Interpol’s Global Cybercrime Expert Group (GCEG), during a session held at the headquarters of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) in Lyon.
Divisional Commissioner Leïla Zouine, head of the Cybercrime Division at Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), was elected to the post, representing the Kingdom within the GCEG.
Zouine was appointed during the expert group’s first annual meeting, held on June 4–5 at Interpol’s General Secretariat in Lyon. The session included the election of the GCEG’s leadership.
In her new role, Zouine will serve as vice chair in charge of «empowerment», a portfolio focused on developing mechanisms, procedures, and action plans to ensure legal and technical protection for cybercrime victims, while equipping police and law enforcement agencies with the necessary skills to investigate and combat technology-related crimes.
The election reflects the DGSN’s commitment to enhancing international security and police cooperation, and underscores the advanced capabilities of Morocco’s cybercrime units at both regional and global levels.
