Charlottetown Police Services Major Crime Unit, in collaboration with Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), have arrested an individual in Charlottetown following a cybercrime investigation.

CPS began working with officers from the OPP’s Cybercrime Investigations Team in fall 2025 to investigate an individual who was residing in Charlottetown. In November 2025, officers from CPS and OPP executed a search warrant at a residence in Charlottetown where investigators seized multiple electronic devices.

As a result of the investigation, on August 12, 2026, Chukwunonso Madubuike was arrested and charged, with the following offences:

  • Unauthorized use of a computer (s. 342 CCC)
  • Fraud over $5,000 (s. 380 CCC)

Madubuike has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia on September 8, 2026.

This investigation demonstrates the importance of inter-jurisdictional intelligence-gathering and collaboration. CPS would like to commend the OPP for their steadfast approach and dedication to combatting cybercrime.
