The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Tuesday said that a complaint has been filed against an Immigration officer who cleared three passengers with suspected falsified documents to fly out of the country.
In a statement, the NBI said the officer, who is at large, was charged with violation of Section 4(b)(1)(i) of the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 and Section 5(e) of The Anti-Trafficking-in Persons Act of 2003 with the Pasay City Prosecutor’s Office.
This came after authorities intercepted three individuals at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3.
They were scheduled to depart for Hong Kong from Manila as tourists but were flagged for presenting suspected falsified overseas employment contracts.
According to the three individuals, they were recruited to work in Cambodia as a customer service representative through a social media platform.
Investigation showed that it was the Immigration officer who cleared them to depart.
The NBI said this is evidenced by the departure BIBS Stamps on their boarding passes that belonged to the Immigration officer.
Meanwhile, the three individuals were presented for inquest proceedings for falsification. — BAP, GMA Integrated News
