Nebraska AG sues security camera, smart home product company

LINCOLN, Neb. (WOWT) – Nebraska Attorney General Mike Hilgers has filed a lawsuit against a security camera and smart home product company.

A release from the AG’s office alleges Resideo, who is also doing business as ADI Global Distribution, is selling cameras manufactured by Hikvision and Dahua, companies that the U.S. have identified as posing national security and cybersecurity risks.

The release says independent agencies have identified vulnerabilities in Hikvision and Dahua cameras, with embedded backdoors, remote access flaws, and other weaknesses that allow unauthorized parties access to live and recorded footage.

The AG’s lawsuit looks to stop Resideo/ADI from misleading customers, and address the security risks posed by their cameras.
