As public concern has surged in recent years over the effect of social media on children, an array of strategies have emerged to address the issue: There are the parents who monitor their kids’ tech use. There are the governments (both national and local) that have implemented new restrictions or outright bans. There is the growing number of schools that prohibit cellphone-use during the school day. And — in the wake of last month’s landmark settlement with social media giant Meta — there is the promise of unprecedented changes to popular platforms.
