DECATUR COUNTY, Ga. (WCTV) – In Decatur County, walking into school for the first day of classes looked a little different this year.
Decatur County Schools announced they will use open-gate security systems as a preventative step to keep campuses weapon-free.
The devices are walk-through weapons detection systems designed to increase school safety while allowing easy entry for students.

The sensors can find weapons and prohibited items without making students stop and empty their pockets or remove backpacks.
