A school bus aide is facing felony charges following an undercover child predator investigation in Sullivan County.
Liberty police say Seth Tremper, 21, of Swan Lake, was arrested Sept. 8 while working on a school bus in Livingston Manor.
Police say an undercover officer posed online as a 13-year-old during the investigation. Authorities allege Tremper engaged in sexually explicit communications, invited sexual conduct and requested nude photos.
Tremper is charged with attempted disseminating indecent material to minors in the first degree and attempted promoting a sexual performance by a child, both felonies.
Police did not identify the school district Tremper worked with or the company that employed him as a bus aide. News 12 has reached out to school and transportation officials for more information about his employment and whether he had contact with students following his arrest.
Police say a second man, Matthew Wunner, 31, of Kiamesha Lake, was also arrested as part of the investigation.
Both men were released on appearance tickets and directed to appear in Town of Liberty Court.
Liberty Police Chief Steven D’Agata said the department’s goal in conducting undercover investigations is to identify suspects before an actual child becomes their victim. He said Tremper’s employment as a school bus aide was particularly concerning because it placed him in a position of trust with children.
