As reported by Ricoh, fewer than half of UK businesses provide regular cybersecurity training to their employees
Findings from Ricoh’s 2025 UK Digital Maturity Survey, which polled over 570 UK business professionals, reveal a concerning lack of cyber awareness across the workforce. More than half of respondents (56%) said their employees lack basic cybersecurity knowledge, and critical weaknesses persist in digital infrastructure and hybrid working environments.
The report highlights that 50% of UK organisations still rely on manual or paper-based processes, and a third are struggling to integrate digital tools into everyday operations. One in five have yet to adopt cloud technology, and only half report having effective digital tools to support collaboration. Additionally, 25% of businesses acknowledge their current hybrid work setups already need to be rethought.
Chris Hopton, CEO of Ricoh UK and Northern Europe, said the findings reveal a “clear reality gap” that is hindering growth and putting organisations at risk.
“These gaps not only limit efficiency and agility, but they also expose organisations to increasing levels of risk,” he said. “Recent and well-documented cyberattacks across the UK have demonstrated the devastating impact of weak digital infrastructure, with public services, healthcare providers, and businesses alike suffering major operational disruption.”
Hopton stressed the need for businesses to focus on creating secure and integrated digital environments, adding: “Productivity and resilience are now intrinsically linked. Organisations must prioritise the development of secure, integrated digital environments that enable teams to work effectively, collaboratively, and securely.”
