Now, raise a cybercrime complaint with a click and QR code scan | #cybercrime | #infosec

Victims of cybe crime can now raise a complaint with the Bengaluru district police’s cybercrime police station at the click of a button and a QR code scan.

“In addition to providing required details related to the cybercrime, this system will also help people to file the complaint with just a click and scan of the QR code without having to go to the station or waiting for the police officials concerned,” Superintendent of Police, C.K. Baba, said .

But citizens will have to go to the station to register a formal complaint with supporting documents.

With the concept of “ACE” it – act, which stands for ‘act’ immediately , lodge ‘complaint,’ and provide ‘evidence’ for quick response – it will help the people to not only prevent cybercrimes but also takes you to links with information, he added .

Claiming it to be first of its kind, Mr. Baba said that the information is made available in English and Kannada. The information contains important links, names and contact numbers of the police stations and officials, and dos and don’ts of cybercrime.

The people friendly initiative has many features, including the case status update and links to raise complaint directly in case of social media account hack report.

This is going to save the time and resources of the people and the police officials concerned who are connected to the system, officials added.

The QR code facility is going to be extended to other stations, where people can access required details of their jurisdictional or any police station at their fingertips and get required details, including case updates.

This facility is not only time saving but also improves accountability and transparency, a police officer who is a part of the project, said .
