Also, 60 caller agents will be recruited to strengthen the functioning of the 1930 cyber fraud helpline.“We have invited expressions of interest for selecting a system integrator to design, supply, install, commission, operate and maintain the advanced centre, which will function as Odisha’s cyber command centre,” a senior police officer said. The command centre will function through four integrated components: a cyber crime headquarters for policy formulation and supervision; a state cyber crime police station with statewide jurisdiction over high-value, transnational and technologically complex offences; a cyber resource centre housing advanced digital forensic and cyber-investigation laboratories; and an AI-based predictive policing and data analytics centre for crime pattern analysis, hotspot mapping and data-driven investigation support. The unit will also raise public awareness, carry out capacity-building initiatives and complaint management through the national cybercrime portal and helpline 1930, and coordinate inter-state investigations.Police officials said the growing sophistication of cybercrime and the increasing volume of digital offences necessitated the creation of a dedicated state-level centre of excellence equipped with advanced forensic, intelligence and analytics capabilities.“The Odisha cyber command centre will serve as the state’s centre of excellence for cyber security, cybercrime investigation and digital forensics. It will provide specialised support to field units while enhancing intelligence gathering, analysis and coordinated response to cyber threats,” the officer added.Officials said S4C will act as a centralised institutional mechanism to coordinate cybercrime prevention, detection, investigation and prosecution support across Odisha. It will also serve as the nodal agency for coordination with Indian cyber crime coordination centre and other stakeholders to facilitate intelligence sharing and rapid response to emerging cyber threats.
