Video game developer Roblox is being accused of misleading investors about its platform child-safety protections and the office of Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson is seeking lead-plaintiff status in the securities class-actions lawsuit.
The AG’s office filed a motion on August 7 to lead the case on behalf of the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS) and the State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio (STRS).
“Roblox lied to investors and failed to protect children from online predators,” Wilson said. “We’re taking action to recover millions in lost pension funds and to make it clear that tech companies must be held accountable when they put kids in harm’s way.”

According to the motion, the complaints allege Roblox failed to disclose that its age-verification rollout would significantly reduce user engagement, communication, app store ratings, and economic growth, forcing the virtual game to reduce its financial guidance and to adopt inadequate safety controls that exposed child users to harmful content and interactions.
On October 30, 2025, Roblox announced the new age verification technology would be implemented following a series of lawsuits and investigations concerning the safety of the platform.
The alleged deception from Roblox, headquartered in San Mateo, California, fueled billions in losses for investors, including a combined $21.5 million for OPERS and STRS from October 2024 through April 2026.
The lawsuit is currently pending before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California and seeks damages for the financial losses caused by the company’s alleged wrongdoing.
