WAGONER COUNTY, Okla. (KOKH) — Authorities say a Porter man was taken into custody after allegedly sending lewd messages to a decoy posing as a child.
On July 11, deputies with the Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office were contacted by an online abuse prevention organization about an online predator investigation.
The organization handed electronic communication that indicated the suspect allegedly initiated contact with a decoy posing as a juvenile child.
Investigators say the suspect continued communicating even after being told multiple times that the individual was a juvenile. Authorities allege that the communications became sexual in nature and included lewd conversations and discussions about meeting the juvenile in person.
Also, the suspect discussed possible meeting locations.
The suspect was identified as Marc Phillips and was taken into custody by Wagoner County deputies on a complaint of lewd or indecent proposals or acts to a child.
The Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Porter man following an investigation into alleged online communications with a person he believed to be a juvenile child.
Wagoner County Sheriff Chris Elliott stated, “Protecting our children remains one of the highest priorities of the Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office. Anyone who believes they are communicating with a child online for sexual purposes should know that we will aggressively investigate these cases and hold offenders accountable. This arrest demonstrates the importance of partnerships between law enforcement and online abuse prevention organizations. We encourage parents to stay involved in their children’s online activity and to have open conversations about internet safety. If you suspect inappropriate contact involving a child, report it immediately. Together, we can continue making Wagoner County a safer place for our families.”
