BAY CITY, MI — The work of an online vigilante has led to a Bay City man facing charges of trying to solicit what he thought was an underage girl for sex.

Bay City police in May received an email from a 31-year-old Washtenaw County woman saying she works to “identify and expose online predators” by operating a decoy social media account whereon she poses as a minor. She said 34-year-old Michael M. Leppek had recently contacted her through MeetMe, an app that “helps you find new people nearby who share your interests and want to chat now.”
