Onyx Security Raises $113 Million to Keep Humans in Control of AI Agents

The question of how to control autonomous AI systems is moving from theory to reality. Recent security tests involving advanced AI models have highlighted the challenge of governing systems that can take increasingly complex actions with limited human intervention.

Against that backdrop, Onyx Security, an Israeli-American cybersecurity company focused on AI governance, has raised $113 million in Series B funding led by Bessemer Venture Partners, with participation from Cyberstarts, TCV, Conviction, FirstMark, Vintage Investment Partners, QuantumLight and G Squared. The round brings Onyx’s total funding to $153 million since its founding two years ago.

Onyx has developed a Secure AI Control Plane designed to discover, monitor and control AI agents operating across enterprise environments. The platform identifies AI agents in use, analyzes their actions and can intervene when activity appears unintended or violates organizational policies.

Since emerging from stealth four months ago, Onyx says its revenue has quadrupled. The company has also expanded integrations with major AI providers, including Anthropic, which announced a partnership with Onyx in June to help secure enterprise AI adoption.

“When we started Onyx, the question I could not stop thinking about was this: when something smarter than you is responsible for the things you depend on, how do you stay in control?” Maxim Bar Kogan, CEO and co-founder of Onyx, wrote on the company’s blog. “Two years later, that question is no longer hypothetical. A year ago, almost nothing inside the enterprise was done by an agent. A year from now, most actions inside the enterprise will be.”

The company says its technology already secures more than 1.1 million agents and analyzes more than 66 million AI sessions in real time across Fortune 500 customers in industries including financial services, healthcare, energy and technology.

“In 2025, less than one percent of actions were made by agents,” Bar Kogan said. “These new autonomous actors will soon be taking the overwhelming majority of actions, which begs the question — how do we guarantee these actions are legitimate?”

The rise of AI agents is creating a new security category as enterprises seek ways to adopt autonomous systems without losing visibility, control or accountability. Onyx argues that traditional security approaches were not designed for software agents capable of making decisions and interacting with business systems on behalf of users.

The new funding will be used to advance Onyx’s proprietary AI models and expand its enterprise operations in the United States and other markets, as the company seeks to establish a new category of AI security and governance.
