Owner of Marion Co. nightclub speaks on deadly incident

The owner of a Marion County nightclub is speaking out following a deadly incident this past Sunday morning at his establishment.

Dan Fore said he’s owned Club H20 for about two years.

Fore said he’s deeply sorry for what happened here that claimed the life of 36-year-old Symora Reaves.

“First and foremost, we will send our condolences to the family,” said Fore.

He always wanted to correct some misinformation being spread across the community.

“I don’t like to hear all these different things on social media. Shot to the chest. And there was no gun shooting out here. It was my understanding that this is the knife wound,” said Fore.

He said he always has notch security at his establishment.

Fore added he usually has six to eight security guards on weekend nights and more if necessary, depending on the crowd.

This past Saturday night, Fore said, about 200 people filled his establishment, which is nearly 13,000 square feet.

Fore said Marion County deputies responded earlier that night to a fight outside the club.

He said he and his son, who helps him at the establishment, were dealing with a plumbing issue with one of the bathrooms and didn’t see anything.

Fore goes on to say deputies hadn’t even left the parking lot when they had to circle back due to the stabbing.

“They were here for another altercation. That it happened within is probably somewhere between 2:13 and 2:17; all of it happened. They were here, and they just turned right around. And when I walked outside, I was going to turn around because I saw them through the window. And I walked outside. I saw them, they the one had her, and they were doing whatever they’re doing. I saw them, they (deputies) had her, and they were doing whatever they’re doing.”

Officials said they rushed Reaves to the hospital, where she died.

Some have called for Fore to close his club, citing the deadly stabbing.

Fore said there has only been one incident at his nightclub in the two years that he’s owned it.

He added last May that a person was shot at a store near his establishment, but it didn’t happen on his property.

However, Fore said he will consider taking additional security measures.

“We run a tight ship, and we will maintain a tight ship. But on the measurements, we can increase these, just maybe increase security.”

A sign on his club’s door reads ‘No firearms or weapons.’

Fore said they pat down and search everyone who walks through the door.

As for how the knife got in there, he says it may have been hidden in someone’s hair.

“But that’s about the only way, because, but I don’t know how much hair checking they’re doing, you know what I mean? I mean, but we have metal detectors and all that stuff. We are trying to keep the place as safe as possible.”

He added he’s fully cooperating with police, but does question if the victim was stabbed inside his club.

He said investigators didn’t find a single trace of blood inside his building.

“It’s puzzling because there’s no sign of any blood drop. And that’s a carpet. It’s just not there. You know, even they checked all night as well. And all morning, the police did as well. So at that time, our conclusion was that it couldn’t have been there because there wasn’t a drop of blood anywhere. How, it’s still beyond me,” said Fore.

At this time, there are no arrests in the incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
