Palo Alto Networks announced it has completed the acquisition of Koi, advancing its push into securing emerging AI-driven enterprise environments and introducing a new category called Agentic Endpoint Security (AES).
The acquisition addresses a growing cybersecurity challenge as organizations rapidly adopt agentic AI tools, including coding agents and autonomous systems, which expand the enterprise attack surface. By integrating Koi’s technology into its existing platforms, Palo Alto Networks aims to provide enhanced visibility and protection for AI operating at the endpoint level.
Koi’s capabilities will be integrated with Prisma AIRS™ to create a unified control plane for managing and securing AI systems across enterprises. The acquisition also enables a new module within Cortex XDR® to detect and remediate risks within AI-driven software ecosystems. Despite the integration, Koi’s technology will remain available as a standalone solution, allowing customers to deploy it alongside existing endpoint detection and response tools.
The company highlighted that the rapid rise of agentic AI tools is delivering significant productivity gains but also introducing new risks, as these systems often have access to sensitive data and critical infrastructure. This shift has created a need for new security frameworks tailored specifically to AI agents operating autonomously within enterprise environments.
With this move, Palo Alto Networks is positioning itself at the forefront of AI cybersecurity, aiming to balance innovation with enterprise-grade protection as organizations increasingly adopt AI-native workflows.
KEY QUOTES:
“Agentic AI presents tremendous opportunity for the enterprise, yet they create a new attack surface that traditional security tools were not built to detect. These agents operate with access to critical systems and sensitive data, creating the ultimate insider threat. With the acquisition of Koi, we are delivering the only solution I’ve seen to secure vibe coding and agentic AI at the endpoint, so our customers don’t have to choose between innovation and security.”
Lee Klarich, Chief Product & Technology Officer, Palo Alto Networks
“By joining Palo Alto Networks, we will be able to provide our customers with the most comprehensive solution for securing all AI and software on the endpoint, and across the enterprise. Together, we are establishing Agentic Endpoint Security as the new imperative, giving our customers the secure foundation they need to lead in an AI-native world.”
