A critical meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs, which is chaired by BJP MP Radha Mohan Das Agrawal, is planned for Wednesday to discuss the urgent problem of preventing cybercrime. The topic of discussion will be “Cyber Crime – Ramifications, Protection and Prevention.”
Recently, it has come to the attention that cybercrime is becoming a bigger problem in India, and to tackle it effectively, the Parliamentary Committee is bringing together voices from different corners of the government and industry. Officials from the Department of Financial Services (DFS), along with representatives from public and private banks and key players in the financial world, are expected to share their views on how to strengthen protections.
The committee will also look into the challenges faced by the telecom sector. Representatives from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) will talk about their role in dealing with cyber threats and how they are working to stay ahead of hackers.
Experts from the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) will join the discussion too. They’ll bring their technical knowledge and explain the strategies currently being used to stop cyberattacks and improve the safety of our digital systems.

On Thursday, the panel have decided to meet again to hear from the Financial Intelligence Unit-India (FIU-IND), the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). Law enforcement agencies like the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which handle cybercrime cases, will also share their insights.
These back-to-back meetings show that the committee is working hard to build a strong, collaborative approach across ministries and sectors. The goal is to better detect, prevent, and respond to cybercrime in a rapidly changing digital world.
