Man Arrested in Child Predator Sting
August 28, 2025 – Placer County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on July 30, Placer County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations detectives arrested 39-year-old Cameron Hoppas, of Oakland, after he arranged to meet what he believed was a 13-year-old girl. Instead, he was met by our detectives and taken into custody.
Hoppas was arrested on charges including lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 (288(a)PC).
The Placer County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to protecting the children of our community. We will continue to aggressively pursue anyone who attempts to prey on children. We also encourage parents and guardians to stay proactive in discussing online safety, monitoring digital activity, and having open conversations with their children about the risks of online interactions.
