PMT Security has opened an office in Auckland and joined the New Zealand Security Association, expanding the Australian security integrator’s presence in New Zealand.
The move follows the completion of its first significant portfolio in the country, including a major rollout for a national retailer. As part of its broader growth push across Australia and New Zealand, PMT has also appointed Deb Perano as Country Manager for New Zealand.
Based in Eden Terrace, the Auckland operation will serve as a hub for project delivery, customer engagement and technical services, supporting a growing local team serving customers across New Zealand.
The latest steps reflect PMT’s aim to establish itself as a domestic operator rather than a supplier managed remotely from Australia. That strategy has included local hiring, a permanent office and membership of the industry association.
Adrian Smith, Chief Executive Officer of PMT Security, said the investment reflected customer demand and the company’s ambitions in the market.
“An in-house team and now an office in New Zealand has been a natural extension of PMT’s business and an important part of our growth strategy,” Smith said.
“We’re not approaching the market simply as an Australian company servicing New Zealand from across the Tasman. We’re investing in local leadership, local people and a permanent presence, while bringing the scale, technical capability and experience PMT has developed over more than four decades.
“Securing a major national retail project in early 2026 was an important endorsement of that strategy. It demonstrates strong demand for a security integration partner that can combine local service and accountability with the ability to deliver sophisticated technology consistently across large, multi-site environments.”
Perano is leading PMT’s market development and operations in New Zealand. She previously spent 20 years with a large retailer in senior roles across Australia and New Zealand, including Group Head of Loss Prevention and Head of Operations in New Zealand.
Her background gives PMT a senior executive with direct experience in retail operations, organisational risk and multi-site management, all central to the company’s target customer base in New Zealand.

“We’re building that capability locally in New Zealand. In just six months, we’ve moved from a single flagship project to a growing portfolio spanning retail, commercial and critical infrastructure, and the Auckland office lets us scale more efficiently across the country.”

Alongside the office opening, PMT has joined the New Zealand Security Association, the main industry body representing security providers and professionals in the country. The membership is another local marker as the company deepens its standing in the market.
Smith said the membership formed part of a longer-term commitment to New Zealand’s security sector.
“Becoming part of the NZSA is about contributing to the local industry and demonstrating our commitment to the standards, professionalism and capability customers should expect from their security partners,” Smith said.
“We want PMT to become an active member of the New Zealand security community, developing local talent and partnerships while sharing the experience we’ve gained delivering some of Australia’s largest and most complex security projects.”
Founded in 1979, PMT works across retail, commercial property, logistics, critical infrastructure, data centres and government. Its services include video surveillance, access control, identity and biometric systems, secure networking and critical communications. The New Zealand business now forms a larger part of its regional footprint.
