We wanted to give folks a quick heads up that Pokemon has been hacked on X, also known by some still as Twitter.
A suspicious message was just posted on the official account a few minutes ago. At first glance, it may seem safe… until you look at it for just a few seconds.
The post makes mention of a Pokemon memecoin. A contact address is included as well. Even though the message links to the 30th anniversary for Pokemon, this is most definitely not something that would end up on any official accounts.

As of now this is the only post that has been made since the hack took place.
The Pokemon Company will also now look to regain its account, and hopefully it’ll be able to do so soon. The timing isn’t great as the 2026 Pokemon World Championships are set to begin tomorrow.

Update: The message has now been deleted – the hack is already over with and The Pokemon Company has access to its account again.

The @Pokemon handle on X was temporarily compromised earlier for ~30 minutes.
We’re aware that our X account was accessed without authorization and used to publish posts promoting a cryptocurrency.
Those posts were not created or approved by Pokemon and have been removed. We have secured the account and are investigating the incident.
We’re sorry for the confusion and appreciate your patience.
