Nashik: The cyber police in Nashik city have found 58 mule accounts that were used for transactions of over Rs79 lakh by the cybercriminals.The cyber police are continuing with their investigations related to the mule accounts in the city. So far, the cyber police have registered three FIRs under relevant sections of the BNS for cheating and petty organised crime.Senior officers of the cyber police station said cybercrime incidents are increasing with every passing day, and individuals committing cyber fraud lure or intimidate residents under various pretexts such as investment schemes, part-time job offers, work from home, digital arrest, forcing them to transfer money into different bank accounts and thereby cheating them.The amount transferred into these accounts is further transferred into various other bank accounts or withdrawn with the help of the account holders or those operating them. Victims of such cyber fraud register online complaints on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCCRP) of the Govt of India.The cyber police of Nashik received information regarding the bank accounts used to cheat citizens across the country from the state cyber department. Upon reviewing the information, it was found that various bank accounts in Nashik city were used to commit cyber fraud.In the recent few days, the police have so far traced 58 such bank accounts in Nashik city, and transactions of Rs79 lakh have been done so far.“We are investigating the details of these bank accounts to reach the cybercriminals. Cybercriminals are using every possible trick to cheat citizens of their money, and in Nashik city itself, people are cheated of tens of crores of rupees every year,” a police officer said.
