POTTSTOWN — A Pottstown man has been charged by state prosecutors with possessing and disseminating child sexual abuse material.
Timothy Paul Hoffman, 59, of East High Street, was charged with multiple felony counts, including possessing child sexual abuse material, disseminating child sexual abuse material, and criminal use of a communication facility in connection with alleged incidents that occurred between May and September 2026
Hoffman, who was denied bail at his Oct. 5 arraignment by a district court judge citing his danger to the community, faces a preliminary hearing on the charges before District Court Judge Scott T. Palladino on Oct. 29.
Hoffman’s arrest was announced on Wednesday by Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday.
“Possession of these heinous photos and videos is abhorrent criminal conduct, and sharing the content takes that level of depravity a step farther,” Sunday said. “Our Child Predator Section will not stop working with partners to identify people who are abusing and exploiting children in the Commonwealth.”
Officials said agents with the attorney general’s office, responding to a tip, served a search warrant at Hoffman’s East High Street apartment last month and seized multiple electronic devices that allegedly contained child sexual abuse materials.
Hoffman’s exact address was not available.
Investigators traced numerous child pornographic files and sharing activity to Hoffman, according to state prosecutors.
Deputy Attorney General Mary Phillips will prosecute the case. Online court records do not indicate if Hoffman has retained a lawyer.
Hoffman potentially faces decades in prison if convicted of the charges.
