PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office has announced the sentencing for a man who offered images of children being sexually exploited as payment to sexually abuse two children.
Prosecutors announced that Christopher Delaney was sentenced this week to 28 years in prison for sexual exploitation of a minor charge.
According to authorities, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a tip about comments Delaney made on a dating app known as Sniffies. A Chandler police detective then posed as the parent of a 7-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl and began chatting with Delaney.
During those conversations, officials said that Delaney talked about how he wanted to abuse the two children, drug them and tie them up. In exchange, he would pay with a flash drive full of child pornography.
At the time, Delaney said he was on probation and wearing an ankle monitor, so he needed to have the children brought to him. The undercover detective agreed, and when he arrived, Delaney reportedly was carrying a “rape kit,” containing zip ties, melatonin, whiskey and weed pens.
He was also found with a flash drive with more than 100 illegal files, according to authorities.
“This case is a reminder of the dangers our children face, and the lengths some will go to exploit them,” said Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell. “Thanks to the Chandler Police Department and the prosecution team, this defendant was stopped before he could carry out his plans on a real child.”
In recent days, the county attorney has worked on targeting child predators and launched campaigns to combat adults grooming children for child exploitation. “Cyber Predators. Real Risks.” details predator tactics, gives authority figures the warning signs and provides tools to keep kids on the internet safe.
