The last thing that any parent should have to worry about is their child being exploited in a video game that is meant to be played by children and teens. But according to one Michigan mother, there is a serious lack of safety measures put in place that led to their daughter encountering a predator on the game Roblox.
Fox 17 recently reported on a situation where, under the false knowledge of being a child, a grown man made an emotional connection with an eight-year-old girl, and after gaining her trust, he sent her sexually explicit and graphic images, and then asked her to do the same thing.
Now, attorney Matthew Dolman says he won’t stop until the family gets justice:
Our goal is to cripple this company if we can. It is an $82 billion company, so that would be almost an impossible task, so what do we do next? We try to force systemic change.

Doman believes that a simple safety measure like adding age verification or a unique pin code that kids can share with their friends could have avoided the situation, but it’s clearly too late for that:
It’s horrific and scary how many victims there are out there. What you have is in this case, an 8-year-old who’s playing online and thinks cloaked behind the anonymity of an online figure is another 8-year-old or another child close to their age and realize this is a grown man.
Roblox did release a statement in regards to the incident, and claims Roblox has implemented rigorous safeguards; however, the family does not believe they were enough to stop this incident from taking place.
