According to a social media post by SLCSO, the search was part of an active investigation by its Criminal Investigations Division concerning internet crimes against children.

During the search, deputies arrested Timothy Edward Ferreira, 26, a registered sex offender.

He is being held in the St. Lucie County Jail on a $700,000 bond.

“Crimes against children are among the most disturbing and unacceptable offenses we face as a community,” Sheriff Richard Del Toro said. “The exploitation of our most vulnerable will never be tolerated, and we will continue to dedicate every resource necessary to identify, arrest, and prosecute those responsible. I commend the tireless efforts of our Criminal Investigations Division and the precision of our SWAT Team in bringing this suspect into custody.”
