Expanded Parental Controls and Youth Protections Under Nevada Agreement
Roblox will introduce dedicated accounts for users under 16, restricting access to adult-rated content and offering curated experiences. will extend to users under 16, expanding beyond the previous under-13 threshold. Likewise, nighttime notifications for minors will also be limited.
Financially, Roblox will allocate $10M over three years to youth-focused programs such as the Boys & Girls Club. It will fund a law enforcement liaison and an online safety campaign.
Attorney General Ford, stated, “This settlement will create a safer environment for our children online.” He added it could serve as a model for broader regulation.
In parallel, Roblox Chief Safety Officer, Matt Kaufman, said the agreement “builds on our work to establish a new standard for digital safety.”
The deal arrives amid wider regulatory pressure on tech platforms. Companies such as Google, Meta, YouTube, and Instagram are testing or implementing age verification systems. However, advocacy groups continue to question the effectiveness of these measures.
