ROME, N.Y. — A mother has been charged in connection with an assault seen in a social media video.
The Rome Police Department said on Aug. 27 that it charged Damaris Brane, 34, with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child in connection with the incident.
On Aug. 27, the police department announced that it was investigating the assault that occurred under a bridge near the Erie Canal on Aug. 26. A video of the assault began to circulate on social media.
The video showed two children attacking a man underneath the bridge. The department said Brane is the mother of the two children.
The department said the investigation into the assault is ongoing and additional charges are possible.
