Rowing Stories, Features & Interviews | Rowing Hack: The Rag Roll Hanger | #hacking | #cybersecurity | #infosec | #comptia | #pentest | #hacker

Need cleaning rags on race day? Try this hack that J.D. Davis, the Duke Boatman, came up with: bungee a roll of rags to an empty rack on your trailer–after you park it, of course–and have them near to hand all regatta long.

Call it the Rag Roll Hanger.

“We found this roll of 75 microfiber towels at Walmart for $16 and bungeed them to one of the racks on the trailer,” Davis tells row2k. “No more searching for clean rags.”

More proof that bungees are a perfect hacking tool, and Davis’ technique here will work for a roll of pretty much anything that would come in handy. You could even put it to good use for a roll of humble trash bags that coxswains can easily grab on those cold spring days when lots of gear is going to wind up in the stakeboats.

This trick offers yet another way to re-purpose the rack arms on your trailer once you arrive and get all the boats off. Those racks are prime real estate for good hacks on site, and even if you are keep a few rigged shells on the trailer, there’s always an empty one or two that can serve a dual purpose.

So put them to work creating sun-shades, holding a strap wheel, organizing your oars, or do like Duke does and keep your rags easy to find.

Have a trailer trick that you deploy for on Race Day? If so, share your ideas–and hacks–in the comments below.

If you have a great rowing hack to suggest for future inclusion, then please send it to us like J.D. did and we will feature your idea in a future column.
