On Wednesday, Oct. 14, comedian and actor Russell Brand, who publicly embraced Christianity in 2024 and recently released a book about his conversion, appeared in a London courtroom as prosecutors opened their case against him.
Brand, 51, has received multiple rape and sexual assault charges. He faces seven counts involving six women, including three counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault, and one count of indecent assault.
The alleged incidents occurred between 1999 and 2009.
Brand has pleaded not guilty to all charges and maintains that he has never engaged in nonconsensual sexual activity.

The “Get Him to the Greek” actor married Laura Gallacher in 2017. Russell and Laura have three children, all of which are still under the age of 10.
Brand’s wife accompanied him to and from the today’s courtroom proceedings.
During opening statements at Southwark Crown Court, prosecutor Riel Karmy-Jones described Brand as a manipulative man who used his celebrity status and charm to pursue women sexually.
“He was ruthless, he was calculated and manipulative, and the prosecution say, he was a sexual predator,” Karmy-Jones told jurors.

Prosecutors alleged that Brand assaulted women in various locations, including hotel rooms, workplaces, a bar restroom, and his home.
One woman accused Brand of raping her after a comedy performance in 1999. Another alleged that Brand sexually assaulted her in 2009 despite repeated requests for him to stop.
