BeInCrypto reported on August 6 that a Greek security researcher spent about 22 months inside the internal servers of a North Korean hacking group, tracking its operations and finding that 1,640 organizations, including Coinbase and Uniswap Labs, had been targeted.
Of those, 700 to 800 were severely compromised, the researcher said. The hackers also obtained server root access, AWS root accounts and crypto wallet keys.
The researcher said the North Korean hackers could have accessed medical records and criminal databases but largely left them untouched. Instead, they focused on crypto wallets and access to blockchains.
He also alerted Coinbase and Uniswap Labs to the findings, and both companies have responded, according to the report.
