BEAUMONT — KFDM first told you about a disturbing story out of Jasper County where four people in Jasper County were arrested in connection with a financial exploitation case involving an elderly man. Investigators say the suspects were caretakers for the victim and are accused of stealing roughly $50,000 from him. Authorities say the case highlights a growing concern about financial abuse targeting seniors.
Texas Department of Family and Protective Services representative Camille Briggs says financial exploitation often involves someone in a position of trust taking advantage of an elderly person’s money or assets.
