PARIS, Tenn. (WSMV) – The Henry County Sheriff’s Office said it is investigating concerns involving a sex offender accused of posting threatening messages to children on Facebook.
The sheriff’s office said it received information about Bryan Jackson’s reported social media activity and turned the case over to the Tennessee State Probation Office.
Officials said registered sex offenders may have social media accounts as long as they use their real identity publicly.
Those accounts are documented during registration and reviewed during required reporting appointments and random compliance checks.
The sheriff’s office said violent sex offenders report four times a year, while non-violent offenders generally report annually around their birthday.
The case remains with the Tennessee State Probation Office.
