A Memorial Day service in Lakeview took a disturbing turn Monday afternoon when a man was arrested for taking inappropriate photographs of children during the community’s annual Amvets parade.
Around 12:15 p.m., officers were alerted by concerned bystanders at the Lakeview Amvets Memorial Service about a man photographing children in a manner they believed to be inappropriate.
Law enforcement quickly located the individual, later identified as Terry Davis, 63, of Russells Point.
According to authorities, Davis admitted to taking photos during the parade and voluntarily allowed officers to search his phone.
The search uncovered not only images from the parade but also additional photographs deemed harmful and unrelated to the event.
These images led officers to immediately take Davis into custody.
Davis was transported to the Logan County Jail for felony pandering of obscenity involving a minor.
In a statement on social media, Washington Township Police said, ” We will work closely with the Logan County Prosecutors Office to ensure that any and all criminal charges that can be filed are filed against Mr. Davis. Officers will diligently work to identify any and all victims from today’s incident, and contact will be made with the victims. Today is a reminder for all of us that being diligent about our surroundings makes those around us safer. We can’t thank the quick actions of bystanders enough for bringing this situation to our attention. Because of them, we were able to apprehend and incarcerate a sick individual and protect our community from further incidents.”
Authorities confirmed that Davis has no known affiliation with the Lakeview Amvets Post 39 and emphasized that the organization was not connected to the suspect in any way.
Davis was convicted on rape changes in 1999, and served a 20 year sentence.
He is now registered as a sexual predator.
The investigation remains ongoing as officers work to identify and notify any potential victims associated with the case.
