Singapore authorities take down over 1,000 IP addresses linked to cybercrimes | #cybercrime | #infosec

11th June 2025 – (Singapore) Singaporean authorities have successfully dismantled more than 1,000 internet protocol (IP) addresses associated with cybercrimes within the country. Working in collaboration, officers from the Cybercrime Command at the Criminal Investigation Department of the Singapore Police Force (SPF) partnered with the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) to eliminate these IP addresses.

This initiative was part of a comprehensive four-month operation named Operation Secure, coordinated across 26 nations by Interpol, as highlighted in a police news release on Wednesday (11th June).

The operation, targeting cybercriminal infrastructure, was conducted between January and April this year. Law enforcement agencies from the 26 countries cooperated to identify physical servers hosting malicious software, specifically “infostealers”.

The operation entailed mapping physical networks and executing precise takedowns. Over 20,000 malicious IP addresses and domains were successfully removed globally, according to the police statement.

The malware involved is crafted to clandestinely infiltrate computer systems and extract sensitive data, subsequently transmitting it to a remote server under the cybercriminals’ control. By dismantling the nefarious IP addresses and domains linked to the infostealers, the police effectively disrupt the cybercriminals’ grip over compromised systems, hence disrupting cross-border criminal networks.

The active involvement of the police in this operation underscores their dedication to shielding Singaporeans from increasingly sophisticated cyber threats. The robust partnership with Interpol also reinforces SPF’s commitment to combating cybercrime on a global scale, emphasising the importance of international collaborations in safeguarding Singapore from online threats.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Paul Tay, Commander of the Cybercrime Command, stated, “Our successful collaboration with key local and international partners in Operation Secure played a pivotal role in dismantling these cybercriminal networks. We remain steadfast in our commitment to working with CSA and other partners to safeguard Singaporeans and businesses from cyber threats, and we are resolute in disrupting cybercriminal activities.”
