SLIDELL, La. (WVUE) – A Slidell man was arrested after investigators say he used artificial intelligence to create child sexual abuse material, Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill’s office announced.

Joseph Impastato III, 32, was taken into custody after a national child safety organization flagged suspicious activity tied to his account on an AI platform.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children sent a tip to state investigators after someone uploaded an image of child sexual abuse material to an AI platform and used it to generate sexual content involving a child. Investigators traced the account to Impastato, searched his home on Hayes Road in Slidell, and arrested him.

Impastato faces three charges. He is accused of one count of possessing child sexual abuse material involving a child under 13 and two counts of creating illegal AI-generated sexual images of a minor.

Impastato was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail. His bond amount was not available. The investigation is ongoing.
