A Facebook post has received hundreds of comments and shares on social media after a user accused two YMCA summer camp leaders of verbally harassing children in the camp at a Myrtle Beach restaurant.
The user took to Facebook on Wednesday to warn parents about the exchange that allegedly occurred outside the Dave and Buster’s at Broadway at the Beach. The user apparently witnessed the exchange.
It’s unclear which YMCA the group of kids were affiliated with. It appears from the post that the children are part of the organization’s summer camp.
The YMCA of Coastal Carolina declined to comment on the allegations.
In a statement to The Sun News Friday afternoon, YMCA of Coastal Carolina President and Chief Executive Officer David Byrd said that following a report involving one of their programs, the YMCA conducted an internal review and no evidence was found to substantiate the allegations that were made.
“The safety and well-being of the children and families we serve is our highest priority,” Byrd said. “Whenever concerns are brought to our attention, we take them seriously and respond promptly in accordance with our established policies and procedures.”
Byrd declined to say what was said to the children.
