Two persons were hacked in the Municipality of Samboan, southern Cebu by their own kin.
A 30-year-old man hacked his younger brother identified as a certain “Merlito” and wounded Merlito’s common-law wife, identified as a certain “Belen.”
The incident happened in Barangay Calatagan, Samboan evening on May 16, 2025.
Based on investigation conducted by personnel of Samboan Police Station, the victim went to the house of his mother and complained about a social media post of his female sibling. The ranting ensued a commotion.
After a few minutes, the suspect who was apparently irked by the ranting ordered Merlito to stop. However, the situation worsened as the two ended up in a heated argument.
The suspect went to get a machete and started hacking Merlito, hitting him in the jaw.
Merlito’s live-in partner was also hit at the back of her head.
It was further learned that the suspect surrendered to the authorities after committing the crime.
