Mogadishu, 29 August 2026 – Somalia’s Upper House held first reading for two bills on cybersecurity and establishing a national meteorological agency.
The bills were presented during the Senate’s first sitting of its eighth term, chaired by Speaker Abdi Hashi Abdullahi.
The cybersecurity bill has six chapters and 33 articles and seeks to establish a legal framework to prevent and respond to cyberattacks targeting internet infrastructure and digital services, according to the Senate.
