Wellix FNI Loan Attacked, “Savings Bank Customer Information Is No Problem”
Some affiliates of Welcome Financial Group were recently attacked by ransomware hacking. Welcome Financial Group said it had nothing to do with its major affiliate Welcome Savings Bank.
According to the financial sector on the 18th, Wellix F&I Loan, a loan company affiliated with Welcome Financial Group, has recently been attacked by a ransomware attack from an overseas hacker organization and is checking whether customer information has been leaked. Following Yes24 and SGI Seoul Guarantee, which were cyber-attacked, the financial sector has become a target again, raising concerns about additional damage.
Welcome Financial Group reported the damage to the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) Personal Information Infringement Reporting Center after learning about the attack earlier this month, and also informed financial authorities of the attack. In addition, it is checking whether there is any hacking damage to affiliates other than the loan company. However, it said that the attack had nothing to do with Welcome Savings Bank, a key affiliate and the recipient business.
An official from Welcome Financial Group said, “As far as we know, no personal information has been leaked,” adding, “We will take active measures against any findings.”
