The DGP also said that keeping in view the needs and expectations of the public, police services will be made more efficient, responsive and citizen-friendly.

Many officers and personnel possess specialized training and unique capabilities, which will be put to effective use.

To enhance efficiency and transparency, an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based system will be introduced in the police department.

This system will assist in accurate data management, enabling officers to perform their duties more effectively and make optimal use of available resources.

The DGP further emphasised that police administration is a continuous learning process, where each experience offers valuable lessons. By regularly reviewing the outcomes of day-to-day decisions, the department has achieved meaningful improvements.

On Saturday, the Uttar Pradesh government appointed Rajeev Krishna as the new officiating DGP. He replaced 1990-batch IPS officer Prashant Kumar, who served as officiating DGP since February last year, and retired on Saturday.

Krishna, who hails from Gautam Buddh Nagar, was Director of Vigilance Establishment in the UP Police, with the additional charge of Chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) since February last year. In March, shortly after the government cancelled the police constable recruitment exam over allegations of a paper leak, he was assigned an additional role as the UPPRPB chairperson.
