A north metro school district is canceling classes Monday due to a suspected ransomware incident.
Spring Lake Park Schools said there will be no school on Monday due to several school technology systems that are down. The district added that all child care, community education programs and after-school activities are also canceled Monday.
On Sunday, the district’s technology team confirmed that someone gained access to some school district systems in a suspected ransomware incident.
Staff immediately shut down all systems to prevent further access, including those required to safely have school.
The district said it is working with third-party cybersecurity experts and law enforcement to restore systems as quickly as possible and will provide an update on Monday.
